UNDER GRADUATE COURSE
The Department offers BA in Development Economics with14 core courses and one elective course, 2 complementary courses, 1 Open course, 6 common courses and 4 courses in additional language four audit courses with a total of 34 courses and 140 credits. Micro Economic Analysis, Macro Economic Analysis , Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis, Fiscal Economics, Indian Economic Development, Development Economics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Development of Economic Thought, Economics of Growth and Development, Behavioural Economics, Urban Economics and Project work/Research Methodology. With this programme 1 Open course is provided, economics in everyday life. This programme focuses to enable the students to contribute to economic policy making, researches, and socio-economic- and environmental endeavors in global and local level and for other competitive fields.
POST GRADUATE COURSE
The Department of Development Economics offers MA in Development Economics since 2021 with 15 core courses (1 Project work and 1 Viva voce) and 3 elective courses . Microeconomics: Theory and Applications I, Macroeconomics: Theories and Policies I, Economics of Development and Growth I, Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis I, Microeconomics: Theory and Applications II, Macroeconomics: Theories and Policies II, Economics of Development and Growth II, Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis II, International Trade, Development Issues of Indian Economy, Basic Econometrics, Political Economy of Development, Public Economics: Theory and Practice, are the core courses offered by the Department . A Project work is included in the programme which enables the students to approach and analyze socio economic issues in a theoretical perspective. Viva- Voice is also conducted using subject experts from various colleges. Elective courses provided are International Finance, Tribal Development: Approaches and Issues and Fundamentals of Research Methodology
This programme focuses to enable the students to contribute to economic policy making, researches, and socio-economic- and environmental endeavors in global and local level and for other competitive fields. The expected programme outcomes include the study of working of economy at global, national and regional levels, a critical analysis of existing concepts and theories and alternative economic policies, to develop analytical mind and to foster research capability. The programme also aims to sensitize students on economic, social, environmental, gender and tribal development issues.
