Online classes
Due to Covid 19 Pandemic, the online classes were initiated from 01-06-2020 onwards. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. C. J. George. The classes were taken through Google Meet platform and recorded mode as per the detailed time table. The teachers monitored the classes and conducted examinations and other feedback also through this online method.
1. First Semester UG Induction Programme 2020

First Semester UG Induction Programme was organized by the IQAC from 09-12-2020 to 11-12-2020. The admission process was delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic in the state and the country. Country was locked down from 25th March 2020 to 31st may 2020. From 01-06-2020 onwards online classes started and online and offline admission process was started on 1st November 2020and ends only on 28-02-2021 due to the Covid 19 restrictions. The three days programme includes Inductions to higher education, Science of Education and flying colours. On 09-12-2020, the programme was inaugurated by Dr. D. K. Sathish, Former Additional Director of Collegiate Education, Thiruvananhtapuram. He also led a class on Induction to Higher Education. This class eliminates the fear of transition from higher secondary education to higher education among students. This class mostly focused on explanations and descriptions of present status of higher education, its wisdom, its areas, its acceptance e.t.c.,. The programme was conducted through Google Meet platform. On 10-12-2020, second day, the programme was led by Dr. V. Manikantan Nair, Former Principal, Govt. College, Attingal. The main focus of the talk was Science of Education which includes renewable energy, creative ideas and science of art education. There were many questions raised by the students and answer session was very interesting and thought provoking. |
On 11-12-2020, third day, the progeamme was led by Shri. Rahul. V. R, Assistant Professor in Psychology, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram. The title of the day programme was “Flying Colours” which have taken the students in a world of different colours where the students were able to see different attitudes, approaches and interests of different students. The explanations and examples were motivated the students and increase the interest towards the higher education scenario in the state.
2. International Webinar on Covid Academia
The department of Commerce in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell was organized an International Webinar on EDIFICES OF COMMERCE EDUCATION IN THE POST COVID ACADEMIA from 17th to 19th December 2020 through Google platform. On 17th December 2020, the programme was led by Dr. P. S. Devakumar, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Govt. College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram on the topic “Commerce Domain: A Magic Wand for Generations Together”. On 18th December 2020, the programme was led by Smt. Sindumol Thomas, Renowned writer and poet, Chartered Accountant, Department of Finance, KMEFIC Kuwait on the topic “BE THE BEST”. On the third day, 19th December 2020, the programme was led by Mr. Raison Sam Raju, HOD & Lieutenant, Department of Commerce, Associate NCC Officer, Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla on the topic “Commerce Education: Opportunities and Success Mantra”
3. Training on Open Broadcasting Studio

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a Training on Open Broadcast Software on 17th December 2020 through Google platform. During the pandemic era, online classes were the highlight of Education system in the world. Entire teaching and learning environment were shifted to online platforms. To deliver education through online, Open Broadcast Software has a very specific role. OBS allows broadcasters to create scenes with multiple inputs on the same screen. This allows the user to create professional picture-in-picture broadcasts and bring in multiple guests/videos via different sources. The user can also do a right-click on your video source to change the order, rotate them, or even add filters. Dr. Gladston Raj, Associate Professor & HOD, Department of Computer Science, Government College, Nedumangad has led the training. The programme was designed in such a way that the interested faculties of different colleges also able to attend. For the convenience of training, the number of participation was limited to 20 from different Government Arts & Science Colleges. This training support the participants to conduct the live classes with ease and enthusiastic. |
4. World Arabic Day Celebrations
The Department of Arabic in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell celebrated World Arabic Language Day on 18th Dcember2020. The programme included Quiz Competition and PPT Making Competitions for the students. As per UNESCO, the Arabic language is a pillar of the cultural diversity of humanity. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, used daily by more than 400 million people. The date coincides with the day in 1973 that the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted Arabic as the sixth official language of the Organization. This programme enabled the students to prepare various quiz and power point presentations in Arabic language.
